Michigan football opens the 2019 season in less than 60 days. Here is a look at what the depth chart will look like for the Wolverines this fall.

Since the arrival of head coach Jim Harbaugh, the expectations for Michigan football have continued to grow higher and higher.

Last season, after winning 10 straight games, Michigan football fans were convinced it was their year and that the Wolverines would finally beat Ohio State. Of course, we all know what happened next.

Harbaugh and company were destroyed in Columbus and then lost 41-15 in the Peach Bowl to Florida, meaning for the third straight year, Michigan football ended with back-to-back losses.

But with some key players returning, most notably starting quarterback Shea Patterson, the Wolverines may have the most talented team of the Harbaugh era. Donovan Peoples-Jones, Tarik Black and Nico Collins are all NFL-caliber wide receivers.

The Wolverines also return all five members from the offensive line that closed out the season, including four guys who started all season and earned some kind of All-Big Ten honors.

Losing players such as Rashan Gary, Devin Bush, Chase Winovich and David Long will hurt on defense, however, Don Brown has a ton of depth and talent at his disposal. The player that might prove most difficult to replace is running back Karan Higdon.

Chris Evans, the guy who was supposed to ascend to that role, is on academic suspension for 2019, leaving a wide-open battle in the backfield.

All in all, there are plenty of reasons to be excited about next season and for an idea of what the two-deep will look like in late August, here is a prediction of the Wolverines depth chart on offense, defense and special teams.
