Sam Ehlinger will be the best QB in the Big 12

Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger is ready for the big time. He had his true coming out party in 2018, and now he’s about to ascend to the top of the quarterback pecking order in the Big 12.

When thinking of Texas and Oklahoma this season, along with respective quarterbacks Sam Ehlinger and Jalen Hurts, this clip springs to mind.

The two rival quarterbacks will punch their time cards and go to work, with Hurts feverishly trying to figure out how to recreate some of the magic he had at Alabama, and Ehlinger calmly going about his business and besting Hurts at every turn.

Hurts is in the worst of all possible positions — following in the footsteps of Baker Mayfield and Kyler Murray — while Ehlinger is in the most enviable spot, being the guy who leads Texas back to national prominence after their dominance of Georgia in the Sugar Bowl last season.

All eyes will be on Jalen Hurts to replicate the high-flying, high-scoring, pass-it-deep-at-will offense which has been seen under head coach Lincoln Riley, and by Week 5 it will be clear Riley will need to adjust his expectations of the quarterback position.

Over in Longhorn country, Ehlinger will shine and likely be one of the possible quarterbacks invited to the Heisman Trophy presentation night. Expect a few Texas records to be rewritten this season.
