Nebraska football is expecting a resurgence in the second season of head coach Scott Frost and here’s a look at the head coaches depth chart ahead of 2019.

If you haven’t noticed, Nebraska football has turned into a trendy pick in the Big Ten conference and some oddsmakers have even made the Huskers a darkhorse favorite for the College Football Playoff.

That might sound a little crazy, especially considering the Huskers are coming off back-to-back 4-8 seasons. Yet, there is plenty of reason for optimism in Lincoln and it starts with second-year head coach Scott Frost, as well as Adrian Martinez, the second-year starting quarterback.

Martinez was a revelation for the Huskers in his freshman season and despite missing part of the first game and all of the second due to injury (both losses), his play was outstanding. Had he been healthy all year, Nebraska football may have been able to scrape together six wins, which it nearly did anyway, despite an 0-6 start.

The Huskers finished the season winning four of their last six games, including three of five in the Big Ten. Their only losses came on the road at Ohio State by five and at Iowa, losing by three on a last-second field goal.

The most notable win came over Michigan State on Senior Day. That was a happy day at Lincoln Memorial Stadium, as an admirable senior class got to say goodbye to their fans with a win over a program that has been a Big Ten power in recent years.

That 4-2 finish, along with the return of Martinez and plenty of others, has sparked a surge in expectations for the 2019 season and here is a look at the players who will attempt to meet them.
