Week-by-week predictions

Game 1: at Oregon State (Aug. 30)

Even though there were some injuries at quarterback a year ago, the offense wasn’t horrible. Which is probably the nicest thing that can be said, given the disaster that was their defense.Ā  If they can’t stop the Cowboys’ offense, this could get very ugly and very fast.

Result: Win

Game 2: vs. McNeese State (Sept. 7)

Another non-conference tilt, and it’s the only matchup that McNeese State has on their schedule against a power five school. It’s the first-ever meeting between these two schools, and it’s a good chance for the Cowboys to make a good first impression on the home crowd this year.

Result: Win

Game 3: at Tulsa (Sept. 14)

The final game before Oklahoma State kicks off their conference schedule, and it’s a quick road trip to Tulsa. It’s a preview of the new deal signed between the new schools, that will see them face off in 8 consecutive seasons, beginning in 2024. OSU should love this, given they have won six straight over the Golden Hurricanes.

Result: Win

Game 4: at Texas (Sept. 21)

With the Longhorns losing three key members of their defense after the 2018 season, they’ll need to get some options in place if they plan on spoiling OSU’s 2019 conference opener in Austin. Both teams have decisions to make on both sides of the ball, and this could very well be closer than what a lot of people may think.

Result: Loss

Game 5: vs. Kansas State (Sept. 28)

After suffering a big loss to the Wildcats a year ago, this is a golden opportunity to bounce back and get on track. If things go sideways in Austin, OSU will need this win to stay in the mix of things in the Big 12. If nothing else, they’ll want to pin an early loss on new head coach Chris Klieman.

Result: Win

Game 6: at Texas Tech (Oct. 5)

The Cowboys close out the first half of the schedule with a trip to Lubbock to face Texas Tech. OSU looks to tack on yet another home loss on the Red Raiders, who seemingly can’t beat anyone other than Kansas on their own field.

Result: Win

Game 7: vs. Baylor (Oct. 19)

It took a fourth-quarter rally for Baylor to pull off a 35-31 win in Waco last year. Baylor is always a tough opponent, and they’ll be intent on making this a long afternoon.

Result: Loss

Game 8: at Iowa State (Oct. 26)

It’s been eight years since that fateful late-season trip to Ames when Iowa State ruined the perfect season for the Cowboys. Ever since they’ve been an annual thorn in the side of Oklahoma State. If OSU isn’t careful, that trend could likely continue.

Result: Loss

Game 9: vs. TCU (Nov. 2)

TCU is always an annual thorn in the side of the Cowboys, but they have a lot of questions to answer about the quality of their squad this year. And OSU could easily cause problems for them. Plus, it’d be a much-needed win.

Result: Win

Game 10: vs. Kansas (Nov. 16)

Kansas has been the punching bag of the Big 12 for a while, although making a few splashes last year. But this should be a decisive victory for the home team.

Result: Win

Game 11: at West Virginia

Morgantown is one of those towns that you just hate traveling to because it seems light years away from the rest of the conference. And the boys may have their head looking forward to Bedlam as well.

Result: Loss

Game 12: vs Oklahoma (Nov. 30)

The one game of the year that everyone in the Sooner State looks forward to each calendar year — Bedlam. This year, it returns to its former spot of being the final game on the regular season schedule. And a chance to beat up on ā€œbig brotherā€ at home.

Result: Win

Final Record: 8-4 (5-4 in Big 12)
