AEW Fight for the Fallen preview: Darby Allin, Joey Janela and Jimmy Havoc vs. MJF, Shawn Spears and Sammy Guevara
By Paul Bradley
Chaos is heading towards Jacksonville as six of the most infamous AEW competitors are set to clash at Fight for the Fallen.
Two teams of faces and heels are going to war this Saturday as Jimmy Havoc, Joey Janela and Darby Allin take on the trio of MJF, Shawn Spears and Sammy Guevara. There are a lot of issues and threads connecting the competitors in this match as this contest looks to be a melting pot of conflict.
Allin will be looking to regain some momentum after suffering a draw at Fyter Fest against AEW Executive Vice President Cody. Allin might also be gunning for Spears as well, as he might view the attack on Cody after his match as Spears stealing his spotlight.
Havoc is looking for redemption and his first win in the company after his losing efforts in his first two matches. Havoc needs a win to establish himself as a staple of the company’s midcard. Havoc will also be looking for some revenge against a man who has rubbed him (and many others) the wrong way since Double or Nothing, MJF.
Janela is an interesting component of this match as he seems stuck in this limbo between main-event talent and midcarder. This match might give the audience a clearer indication of where Janela might end up in the company’s food chain. Janela doesn’t have any set issues with anyone in the match, but a new rivalry could emerge out of his involvement in the contest.
Guevara is the dark horse of the contest as he has not had much exposure to the AEW roster outside of his match with Kip Sabian at Double or Nothing. Guevara has nothing to lose going into this match and everything to gain, as this match can do nothing but elevate his status within the company.
MJF is the wild card as he has major issues with another competitor in the match, but it’s one of his own teammates. MJF has a very close relationship with Cody and after Spears attacked Cody at Fyter Fest a backstage segment was shown, with MJF confronting Spears. If MJF doesn’t go after Spears in the match, despite being teammates, it will be a shock.
Spears looks to be the biggest heel in the match as he is still riding the wave of his steel-chair assault on former tag team partner Cody. Spears has issues with MJF but has no real enemies on the other side of the contes. That doesn’t mean Spears won’t continue to add to his vicious streak. Spears is the most likely to pick up the win for his team in this six-man mayhem.
This match could both advance and create a plethora of storylines and conflicts as well as showcase the midcard of the company. Expect a fast-paced, violent match on Saturday.
