WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match

Drew Gulak (c) vs. Tony Nese

Nothing has been officially announced at the time of this writing but we have a sneaking suspicion that this WWE Cruiserweight Championship Match between Drew Gulak and Tony Nese finds its way to the Kickoff Show. As usual. Even if it is on the preshow, there is no doubt that we’ll still get a solid match. This was classic booking as Gulak won the title in a triple threat without actually beating the champion, and Nese wants back what he never lost. Simple but effective.

Prediction:Ā Gulak’s title win was long overdue and he’s better with the belt than Nese. Yes, Nese is a very good talent but something just wasn’t clicking for me with him as the champion. I thinkĀ 205 LiveĀ continues in the direction they’re going and the title stays with Drew. But there’s also that wild card factor in play here. Gulak grew up about 20 minutes away from Philly and we know how things usually go when someone wrestles in their hometown.

WWE United States Championship Match

Ricochet (c) vs. AJ Styles

How much fun has this whole thing been between AJ Styles and Ricochet? It started with Styles challenging Ricochet right after he won the United States Championship from Samoa Joe at Stomping Grounds, which resulted in Styles winning in a non-title bout. Ricochet got his revenge the next week with the strap actually on the line, which then turned into a Styles heel turn, which we knew was coming anyway once Gallows and Anderson came back on the scene.

So The Club is back and they’re targeting The One and Only. Some viewers may not be into this matchup since we’ve seen it two out of the last three weeks, but I’m not in that boat. This is still AJ Styles taking on Ricochet. How can we not supposed to be excited about that?

Prediction:Ā This is a tricky pick. On one hand, it would seem that taking the title off of Ricochet the pay-per-view after he won it is a bad move — and it would be. On the other hand, would Styles really lose two title matches in a row? The Club may end up making this whole thing really easy with a DQ finish. Yeah, seeing as how I really don’t know which way to go on this one, we’ll just go with that: Ricochet wins via DQ.
