Madden ratings: 5 players who were snubbed from the Madden 99 club
Von Miller
If Wagner is in the Madden 99 club for being the most consistent middle linebacker over the past five years, then Von Miller had better be rated 99 for being the most consistent edge rusher over the same period of time. Miller wasn’t quite as dominant on the highlight reels as Mack last season, but he’s arguably a more productive pass rusher than the Chicago Bears newest superstar.
Miller had more tackles for loss, QB hits, and sacks than Mack, which makes the Denver Broncos star’s exclusion from the 99 club even more confusing. No edge rusher had more sacks than Miller’s 14.5 last season, as he finished fourth in the NFL overall in this statistic.
Sacks aren’t everything, and Mack has done a better job of putting pressure on the quarterback overall. But Miller is right there with him in terms of value added at the inside linebacker position, and he’s been playing at this level for about a decade without showing any signs of slowing down.
Miller is a genius at the outside linebacker position, having gotten down jumping the snap to an exact science. He forces fumbles, he plays the run, and, heck, he can even cover running backs if asked. There are no real holes in Miller’s game, nor are their games where he goes quiet. This man should have been given that coveted 99 rating.
