The Open Championship 2019: Betting odds for the field at Royal Portrush

A look at the betting odds for the 2019 edition of The Open Championship from Royal Portrush Golf Club.

For the first time in 68 years, golf’s oldest major championship (and also now the last on the calendar) will take place in Northern Ireland as The Open Championship begins this Thursday at Royal Portrush.

Outside of a handful of players, Royal Portrush is an unfamiliar track to the 156-player field so it’s no surprise that Rory McIlroy, who just happens to hold the course record (he shot a 61 here at the age of 16), is the betting favorite this week at 8-1. Right behind McIlroy is world number one and reigning PGA Champion Brooks Koepka, who comes in at 10-1, and he’s followed by a strong trio of world number two Dustin Johnson, eighth-ranked Jon Rahm, who has had past success in Northern Ireland, and three-time winner of The Open Championship, Tiger Woods, who all enter the week at 16-1 odds to round out the top five.

Defending champion Francesco Molinari comes to Royal Portrush at 25-1 and last month’s U.S. Open winner, Gary Woodland, begins his quest for a second major title at 66-1.
