Here’s the recap of all the high-flying action you may have missed from this week’s episode of 205 Live. Watch the Cruiserweights every Tuesday night at 8 PM ET on the WWE Network.

This week’s episode of 205 Live had a message from its champion, Drew Gulak, along with one fast-paced matchup and a technical match for the main event.

Drew Gulak Adapts to Survive

We are greeted by the current Cruiserweight Champion in a backstage segment. Drew Gulak says he adapted to survive, and it’s true — he has adapted over the entire history of the show. The purple brand’s leader states he has rebuilt himself. Then we get his mission statement: “My name is Drew Gulak and I’m the Cruiserweight champion. This is — my — 205 Live.”

Gulak has been a cornerstone of the purple brand since its inception. He even survived being paired with Enzo Amore. That alone makes him championship material. We had Power Point presentations, a No-Fly Zone, and ridden the Drew Train to Drewtopia. *drew drew*

Are you ready to see what Gulak has in store on his 205 Live?

2. Tozawa vs. Singh

Our first match of the night sees Akira Tozawa (accompanied by The Brian Kendrick) in action against Samir Singh (with his brother, Sunil, in tow). In the in-box interview, the Bollywood Boyz are talking about their busy schedule wrestling and making Bollywood films. The brothers tell Tozawa that he’s earned an Honorary Award, while holding their own award.

There’s some high-flying moves as you’d expect. Tozawa gets the roll up win much to the chagrin of the Singh Brothers, who promptly beat him up in the middle of the ring. Kendrick comes to his friend’s defense. They end up with the award of the Bollywood Boyz and stand tall.

This match was more or less what was expected. Not a bad match by any means, but nothing stands out. We just saw Tozawa go toe-to-toe with Adam Cole on Evolve 131. He should be getting more matches of that caliber.

3. Kanellis vs. James

After a strange few weeks of being demoralized by his own wife, Mike Kanellis comes to the ring by himself. Waiting for him is enhancement talent, Jackson James (who you may recognize from his match the night before on Raw against the Viking Raiders). Kanellis takes out all of his frustration and easily beats his opponent in a couple of minutes.

The beatdown continues after the bell rings until 205 Live general manager Drake Maverick comes down to the ring. Kanellis challenges Maverick to a fight. When Maverick declines, Kanellis goes on a tirade about how Maverick should be man enough for his own wife. As he continues to goad him, Maverick finally had enough and beats up Kanellis. Happy with himself, Kanellis leaves Maverick in the ring, who realizes he’s gone too far.

You have to wonder if Maria is as proud of her man as he is of himself.

4. Gallagher vs, Gable II

In our main event, we get a rematch of last month’s contest between Jack Gallagher and Chad Gable. If you missed the first matchup, Gable won via count out.

This week’s match is another technical clinic with plenty of false finishes. I didn’t notice it, but according to Twitter, there were “This is boring” and “CM Punk” chants. Shocking, I know. This match was even better than their last one. Gable is 2-2 with a win via his amazing German Suplex. The crowd was on its feet by the end, as was the announce team. An instant classic and a definite contender for Match of the Year. In all of WWE. I said what I said.

The gifs don’t do this match justice. Go out of your way and watch it.

Fellow Superstars have been praising this match since it aired. This is the kind of adulation and attention they deserve, along with the rest of the 205 Live brand.

5. Maverick Address His Actions

In a WWE.com exclusive, Drake Maverick addresses Mike Kanellis. Kanellis must’ve invoked Batista, because the GM will give him what he wants, a shot at the Cruiserweight title — if he beats his next opponent. That opponent you ask?

(wait for it…)

The former 24/7 champion himself, Drake Maverick.

Business is about to pick up, as a cowboy hat-wearing commentator likes to say.

Thus concludes this week’s edition of 205 Live. There was also a video package of Humberto Carrillo on his first year in WWE. This was the same package they aired last week.
