The road to Cardiff begins

Following last week’s attack by one Kay Lee Ray on Candy Floss, Toni Storm is out to address the ongoing mindgames of her current rival. Ray of course won a battle royal to become No. 1 contender to Storm’s NXT UK Women’s Championship, with an added bonus of being able to exercise her right to challenge at a time of her choosing.

To date, Ray has been cagey with her intentions, trying to get into and mess with Storm’s head without so much as even hinting when she might be consider challenging for the title. This all escalated into the aforementioned attack on poor, innocent, sugar person Candy Floss.

So Storm is out here to be all like, “Kay Lee Ray, you’ve changed!” You see, when Storm first moved to the United Kingdom, Ray was one of her best friends. She took Toni under her wing when Toni didn’t know anyone. But then Toni went and left her name out of her now infamous — at least on these recaps — promo where she listed all of the good female wrestlers in NXT UK.

Now Ray is out here attacking if cotton candy were human to get into Storm’s head, and that’s just not gonna fly. Toni states she’s ready whenever Ray is to cash in that title shot. She’s sick of the mind games, which is a perfect cue for Ray’s entrance music to hit.

Entering in full-ring gear, Ray suggests they not only have that title match tonight, but have it right at that moment. Except — psyche! — not happening, she’s not throwing away her title shot like that. Classic bit, love it.

Instead, Ray is going to make the champ wait until the biggest NXT UK event yet, TakeOver: Cardiff. And she better enjoy the next month-plus of waiting for Cardiff, because between now and then, Ray pledges to make Storm’s life a living hell.

Further evidence that, if you’re going to make a sweeping proclamation of a speech about people who are talented, you should really write your talking points down beforehand, lest you anger your former best friend to the point of them wanting to cause you mental and physical pain.
