Fantasy Football Rankings: RB Strength Of Schedule

After hearing nothing but positive feedback on the fantasy football SOS QB edition article, it was only right if we continued the segment and did an RB article. SOS, short for strength of schedule, shows us which players have a better chance at succeeding or failing this year, based on their respected schedules. Without further ado, we have 32 backfield’s to get into.

  1. Baltimore Ravens– FA signing Mark Ingram, rookie Justice Hill, and 2nd year back Gus Edwards has been rewarded the easiest SOS of the season for the running back position! Looking at the schedule, the AFC North links up with the AFC East this season, and the Patriots, Jets, Bills, and Dolphins are terrible against running backs. Of course, being in the AFC North, he will get the Bengals, Browns, and Steelers twice a year as well, and those teams can be run on. With Ingram being on a run-first offense and being drafted as the RB22 overall, he could be a nice value in the 5th round.
  2. Pittsburgh Steelers- James Conner was an absolute baller in 2018. He finished as the RB6 overall, despite only playing 13 games. He had 1,470 yards from scrimmage and 13 total touchdowns. It’s worth noting that the Steelers had the 21st ranked SOS in 2018 for RB, now Conner has the 2nd easiest SOS in 2019. With Jaylen Samuels and rookie Benny Snell not being backs that will command a big workload, Conner has top-5 running back upside in 2019. Last thing on Conner, he plays the Bills and Jets in the fantasy semi’s and finals, that’s amazing.
  3. San Francisco 49ers– The trio that scares the fantasy community in Tevin Coleman, Jerick Mckinnon, and Matt Breida, of course, have the 3rd easiest SOS. This just makes us fantasy owners want them more and more importantly, want to know who is going to be HC Kyle Shanahan’s starting guy. The schedule is pretty easy as the first 3 weeks feature the Buccaneers, Bengals, and Steelers. The rest of the way, they have easy matchups sprinkled in. For fantasy im avoiding all because I have a feeling that these guys will take turns having great weeks and I’ll always start the wrong guy so that can be someone else’s problem in 2019.
