Ranking the 50 most visually-appealing college football uniforms
By Zach Bigalke
Few teams in the Big 12 are as well-dressed as West Virginia. With their gold and blue color scheme, West Virginia has brought some worthwhile updates to their look in recent years. The Mountaineers have donned some stunning uniforms thanks to their partnership with Nike that has evolved their look for the 21st century.
Key to that look is the futuristic numbers that West Virginia sports on their jerseys. Eschewing more classic fonts, they have utilized a space-age look for their numbers in recent campaigns. Though they are returning to a more classic appearance with their 2019 uniforms, they still exhibit a unique look that continues to separate the Mountaineers from the pack.
Then there is the logo. While plenty of other schools use letters as the base for their logo, few come across as cogently thought out as the interlocking WV in gold with blue trim. It offers a clean brand that is instantly recognizable and that cannot be confused for any competitor.
With all-blue, all-yellow, and all-white looks, the Mountaineers can also mix and match the pants and jerseys in a variety of workable combinations. It is a testament to the integration of their appearance that makes West Virginia one of the best-dressed teams in college football.
