When you watch a Southern California football game, you know exactly what you are going to get on the field. There are few surprises possible with one of the most iconic looks in the entire sport.

One need not guess to know the Trojans will drape themselves in cardinal and gold. You also know there will be no name on the back of the jersey, a trend common to plenty of schools with classic looks. And there will be Tommy Trojan staring out in profile on the side of the helmet.

While there have been small shifts to the uniform over the years, USC neither needs nor wants to update its look beyond the occasional fabric change or minor alteration. When rumors first swirled in 2016 that the Trojans would add a cardinal collar and sleeve cuffs to their white road jersey, the internet blew up over the slightest of modifications.

Like other traditional powerhouses that wear a familiar look, uniform providers are inclined to make these minimal modifications. While the font of the numbers might change, and different areas of the jersey and pants might get variances in where accent colors appear, there is no confusing USC for a sartorial innovator like Oregon.
