Ranking the 50 most visually-appealing college football uniforms
By Zach Bigalke
When it comes to pushing the envelope in uniform design, no team has made more of a name for itself in that regard than Oregon. The Ducks come out with a new uniform combination seemingly every week, playing off both the traditional green and lemon yellow of the school colors as well as a range of grayscale and metallic tones.
If you are a fan of a team with a classic look, Oregon is certainly not the team for you. Even when the Ducks put out a throwback look, they still incorporate some stylistic elements that make their appearance unmistakably modern. Take, for instance, their throwback to the undefeated 1916 Webfoots team that was anything but antiquated in design:
The Ducks started their uniform revolution at the end of the 20th century, but it has launched a decidedly 21st-century phenomenon. Plenty of teams have tried to follow Oregon’s lead in using the opportunity to prototype next-generation gear as a recruiting tool, but none have quite perfected the synergy that the Ducks have developed with their partners at Nike.
Traditionalists will scoff, but no matter what they are wearing in a given week Oregon is instantly recognizable for the sheer fact that they opt out of continuity for the sake of continuity. With a seemingly endless option of colors and concepts, no school has perfected the sartorial shakeup quite like the folks in Eugene.
