1.03 – N’Keal Harry (WR – New England Patriots)

N’Keal Harry is a gifted receiver who dominated at Arizona State. In the conversation to be the first receiver off of the board during the pre-draft process, Harry was one of only two wide receivers to be drafted in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

Harry is a spectacular catch making 50/50 ball winner. He can operate at every level of the field but is at his best downfield and on short routes and screens. He has the great ability after the catch where he is able to use his superior size to take on defenders. He posted a solid 7.1 yards after catch in 2018, and placed eighth in the nation with 17 contested catches. Larry Fitzgerald took in a lot of Harry due to him playing college in Arizona. He went as far as to proclaim that Harry was a better receiver than he was in college.

Harry landed in the perfect offense for his skill set. The Patriots make their living taking what the defense gives them short, and then taking shots downfield when the defense starts to press. Harry excels at both. He looks to have been thrust into a high volume starting role for the Patriots and has immediate WR1 upside.

The Patriots are said not to be using the kid’s gloves they typically apply to rookie wide receivers and will allow Harry to hit the ground running. He may see some of his short-term upside sapped if Josh Gordon is reinstated, but make no mistake, it is Harry who is the future of this offense. Julian Edelman should still see the most targets and receptions, but Harry could lead the team in touchdowns as soon as this season. He should also see over 100 targets as a rookie if he can make it through 16 games.
