Fantasy football ADP check: Players being over-drafted

4. Tarik Cohen, ADP 6.9

No doubt Cohen is a fun player to watch. He is dynamic, can stop on a dime, and is skilled at making defenders miss. However, Cohen is a small player, and the Bears coaching staff has never had any desire to run him between the tackles. He averaged 6 carries per game last year, and that number should not go up with the additions of David Montgomery and Mike Davis to the backfield.

Further, Coach Matt Nagy has a history in Kansas City of using primarily one back, since it keeps the defense on their toes and does not tip them off about whether the play is a run or a pass. Both Montgomery and Davis can play all three downs, but Cohen would not be a good fit for that role. In the end, no matter how the snaps are split up I anticipate fewer snaps for Cohen. They may use him in more trick formations, or in the slot, but his overall touches should go down.

So while he is a fun player and certainly is a threat to score when he touches the ball, if his already meager touches decrease as I think they will, the sixth round is way too early for him. Instead, grab a player there with far more upside and opportunity, like Mark Ingram or James White.
