FanDuel MLB: Top Hitting Stacks Main Slate

Here comes the easy/hard part. If you picked a risky low-owned pitcher, this won’t be as difficult to do. However, I’m likely going with Berrios. So, I will need to find some way to differentiate my offensive side of the lineup.

Unfortunately, the best offensive stacks are obvious and likely can’t be ignored. In Anaheim this evening, the Angels and Orioles have two of the worst starting pitchers on the mound for this slate. Their combined home runs per nine innings is nearly seven per game. You read that correctly!

So, compared to all other games, this one really sticks out as having the highest total runs by the end of the end of the night. The tricky part is, guys like Mike Trout ($5,000) and Shohei Ohtani ($3,800) are very expensive for the Halos and Trey Mancini ($3,800) is expensive for the O’s.

So, most MLB DFS players will likely either pick those three and go with all mid-salary range value plays for the rest of their offensive lineup, or they’ll pick just one or two of those guys, leaving potential big points on the table.

I’m suggesting a different approach, hopefully lowering the total ownership of the players in our lineups. I love Trout, Ohtani, and Mancini in all of my lineups. Whether I have Berrios or not, I’m going to plug them in there and keep them there.

However, I’m not comfortable avoiding plays like Renato Nunez ($3,200) in a great long-ball spot, or Anthony Santander ($3,200), who’s hit a home run in four of his last six games. I’m going to find a way to plug them into my lineup as well.

The problem is, of course, salary. So I recommend punting at least two positions. I’m likely going with the Shortstop and Utility position. Shortstop, mostly because I don’t like any of the top plays. And the Utility position, because it gives you the most leverage to adjust players.

They’re obviously risky plays, that’s the point, but I’m currently looking at plugging Humberto Arteaga ($2,000) at the SS spot and Kristopher Negron ($2,000) at the utility spot. Assuming they’re in their respective team’s lineups, I may keep them there. But my goal tonight is to find two or three of the best $2,000 to $2,200 players to put in my lineup and absolutely load up on top talent for the rest of the group.
