Shoe La La

Kenny Williams and Noam Dar came up together and used to be friends. Years of camaraderie went out the window however, the moment Dar threw Williams face first into a mass of Download Fest mud. Do you have any idea the kinds of stuff that live in that mud? No relationship can come back from that.

In Dar’s mind, Kenny is jealous of him. Jealous of his early career successes, of his run of making us all chuckle a bit from the way he pronounced Alicia Fox’s name. So you see, he had to throw him in the mud, to teach him a lesson about humility. Or something.

Anyway, this match is fun, with a narrative that both men know each other so well that neither is able to gain much of an upper hand. Of course then, the stalemate is broken by illegal tactics. While trying to pull Kenny away from the ropes, Dar instead gets nothing but a Nike. Williams’ shoe is ripped right off his foot, by god the carnage!

For some reason, the referee really wants to hold that shoe, but Dar tosses it outside the ring instead. As far as we know, there’s nothing in the rules about forcing your opponent to wrestle in one shoe. Then, when the ref goes to check to make sure the shoe is okay, Dar kicks Kenny below the belt before kicking him in the face to win the match.

If ever there were a stealth marketing campaign for Adidas, this match was it. Adidas: They won’t get ripped off your feet and then be used to distract a referee so your former friend can kick you in the groin and then in the face to pin you in a wrestling match at Download Festival 2019. Rolls right off the tongue.
