UFC 240 MMA DFS Picks – Saturday, July 27
Hows it going everyone? I am excited to join the FanSided team! This article will be showing you the best plays for each UFC card that we have each and every Saturday! Each article will have 2 MMA DFS players in each tier that I absolutely love. Two high priced, two mid-priced and 2 low-priced. With that out the way let’s get started!
High-Priced Plays:
Max “Blessed” Holloway (9,400) Max Holloway is the best play on the entire slate in my opinion. He is fighting in the main event which is 5 rounds and these are always the fights to target for your DraftKings contests because longer the fight the more fantasy points you can accumulate. He faces the shorter fighter in Frankie Edgar, who is 5 inches shorter then Holloway and this is a great matchup for the latter. Holloway is currently -340 to win this fight and the fight in general is -140 to finish.
Max Holloway fights at an extreme pace averaging 175 significant strikes in each of his last 5 fights. This is key because significant strikes in MMA DFS is how you accumulate those fantasy points. Stylistically, Holloway can strike at will from distance and Frankie Edgar doesn’t have the elite wrestling to take down Holloway who boasts an 83 percent takedown defense. It also doesn’t help that Edgar only has a 34 percent takedown rating. From that analysis alone Holloway is the best play on the slate due to the 5 round fight and the significant strikes he’s going to accumulate against a shorter fighter.
Geoff Neal (9,000) -345 to win.
Geoff Neal will be facing Niko Price who loves to absorb significant strikes to the head. Niko Price takes in 4.30 significant strikes per minute while only dishing out 2.93 per minute. Geoff Neal has power in his hands and on top of that he lands at an absurd 6 significant strikes per minute. Neal will be striking forward as Price cannot deal with the strikes coming in with his notoriously bad chin. This fight is -400 to end inside distance so I believe Neal with his power and his ability to land at a high rate qualify as first-round KO for Geoff Neal making him one of the best plays of the slate.
