UFC gives $1M to Las Vegas shooting victims

By Dave Noseworthy

Dana White has been called a lot of things over the years, but one of the positive reoccurring things he has been called is generous. Whites history of public donation dates back to 2011 when he gave $100,000 to his former high school to fund renovations, and since that time there have been numerous stories of Whites generosity for helping those in need that was never intended to be made public but leaked out into the press.

So it came as no surprise when following the Las Vegas shooting tragedy that White announced that the UFC will be giving 1 million dollars to the Las Vegas shooting victims. Always being very verbal about his pride of being a Las Vegas local, White told ESPN where his head was at after the initial shock of the incident and ensuring his family and employee’s safety.

“You start thinking about this city, our hometown, and we felt we needed to do this. This is something we needed to do.”

Bruce Buffer defends Dana

By Cynthia Vespia

An incident during a 2018 press conference sparked a lot of back-and-forth from Nate Diaz and veteran UFC announcer Bruce Buffer. Diaz had shown up late to a news conference to speak about his fight with Dustin Poirier but when the UFC announced a title fight between lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov and former champ Conor McGregor, Diaz left early. Afterward, he took to Twitter and TMZ to say he might not even take the fight due to UFC under promoting him. When TMZ Sports caught up with Buffer to ask him about Diaz, he didn’t mince words when coming to the defense of the UFC and Dana White. “I love Nate, but he’s always got a bad taste in his mouth,” Buffer said. “Nate, I heard you made $7 (million) or more dollars on your last fight. I don’t want to hear you complaining about being under promoted by the UFC. You should be thanking the UFC and bowing to Dana White every time you see him.”
