FanDuel MLB – Top Third Basemen

Top Play: Manny Machado | SDP | $4,000

I fully expect the Padres to go overlooked with both LA teams garnering all of the attention tonight, and I think that would be a mistake. With John Means landing on the IL, the Padres will face off with the BAL bullpen, who have been notoriously horrible this season.

Machado has also snapped out of his early-season slump and really turned things around, posting a 0.364 wOBA and 0.234 ISO overall on the season with a 42.1% hard-contact rate.

Value Play: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. | TOR | $3,200

Are we on the verge of seeing Vlad Jr. go on a massive tear? It may seem like that’s the case, as he’s recorded 5 hits over his last 2 games, collecting 1 HR and 7 total RBIs in that span with 2 doubles. He’s also posted a 0.341 wOBA against righties and shown elite patience at the plate for his age, with his 18.7% strikeout rate and 11.0% walk rate.

Brad Keller has done a great job masking his 4.88 xFIP with his sub-4.00 ERA, but at some point, regression has to hit. His 15.1% strikeout rate to righties is not something that can sustain his current surface stats and while he’s only allowed a 0.304 wOBA to righties, the 37.1% hard-contact rate allowed should have Vlad Jr. licking his chops.

Honorable Mention(s): Nolan Arenado, Anthony Rendon, Eugenio Suarez, David Fletcher (elite cash game play)
