Power ranking the NFL offenses for 2019
16. New York Giants
2018 Review: General manager Dave Gettleman took his share of criticism last spring for using the second overall pick in the ‘18 draft on a running back. But all Saquon Barkley did was lead the Giants in rushing yards, receptions and touchdowns and the league in total yards from scrimmage. Eli Manning relied on the rookie in terms of a target. But once again, he had his issues behind an offensive line that struggled. Once again, Odell Beckham Jr., saw his season cut short by injury, despite leading the team in receiving yards (1,052) and TD catches (6).
2019 Key Additions: While the team traded Beckham to the Browns, the Giants picked up a nice complement to their pass-catching corps in free-agent wideout Golden Tate. The addition of right guard Kevin Zeitler was part of the deal of the wheeling and dealing with Cleveland. Of course, Gettleman used the sixth overall pick in April to draft Duke University quarterback Daniel Jones. Will he be the starter sooner than later in 2019?
Analysis: After one year, some feel Barkley may be the best player at his position in the league. That’s quite a statement considering he resides in a division with a performer (Ezekiel Elliott) that has won two NFL rushing titles the past three years. The loss of Beckham hurts but Manning has somewhat gotten used to him being absence and Tate was a solid pickup. If the men up front can round into form, this could be a very balanced offensive unit.
