Power ranking the NFL offenses for 2019
31. Arizona Cardinals
2018 Review: What didn’t go wrong for the Arizona offense this past season? This unit managed to score only 24 touchdowns in 16 outings and the club amassed more than 20 points just twice all season. The Cardinals became the first team since the 1977 Tampa Bay Buccaneers to finish last in the league in total offense, rushing yards per game and passing yardage. After seven games, offensive coordinator Mike McCoy was shown the door. When the dust finally settled, the club scored an NFL-low 225 points and committed 28 turnovers while allowing 52 sacks.
2019 Key Additions: General manager Steve Keim used the first overall pick in April on Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Kyler Murray and also drafted three wide receivers. In free agency, he added tight ends Charles Clay and Maxx Williams and really stressed more help for an offensive line. The team sent a sixth-round draft choice to Pittsburgh for tackle Marcus Gilbert and the Cards also signed guards J.R. Sweezy and Max Garcia.
Analysis: After using a first-round pick in 2018 on Josh Rosen, the Cardinals moved on from the former UCLA quarterback and eventually dealt him to Miami. Former Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury is the team’s new sideline leader. Will his system succeed on the pro level? So far, veteran Larry Fitzgerald has been impressed by the Murray (via Robert Klemko of MMQB). The team could use another big year from running back David Johnson.
