The next bachelor has not yet been announced and likely wonāt be for some time. That doesnāt mean we canāt dissect the odds.
WARNING: This post is full of spoilers. If youāve avoided reading anything about The Bachelorette ending until today, close this page immediately. Iāll even write a few generic opening paragraphs so you wonāt see anything.Ā
Who is going to be our next bachelor? The masses were calling for Mike as the favorite through most of the season, and heās still in the running. But there are currently more than a few good options, and itās time to think about the possibility that it might not be Mike after all.
Look, Mike is perfect. Heās stable, humble, well-liked, handsome, funny, confident and treats everyone around him with respect. This is exactly why he isnāt a virtual lock-in to be the next bachelor. ABC chooses contestants with a little bit of instability (even the slightest amount makes for a good season). Thereās still a great chance itāll be Mike, but we have to prepare for the unfortunate event that it is not.
This brings us to our odds list. (Last chance for spoilers.) Here are the odds on who will be named the next bachelor, according toĀ Sports Betting Dime:
Tyler Cameron: 7/3 (or 30 percent)
Mike Johnson: 7/3Ā (or 30 percent)
Peter Weber: 5/1 (or 17 percent)
Luke Parker: 100/1 (or 1 percent)
FIELD: 7/2 (or 22 percent)
To no oneās surprise, it looks as though itās going to be a close race between Mike and Tyler. This probably isnāt a shock to you, given that itās pitting the current fan-favorite choice in Mike against the most beloved contestant, Tyler. Pilot Pete is the most likely to get crushed by a season-end breakup, which will hurt as much for us as it does for him.
āThe fieldā is a good value bet, with great choices such as Garrett, Dustin or someone who garners a lot of buzz during a stint on Bachelor in Paradise, but chances are, itās going to be one of the top three on this list.
If we are hit with the nightmarish 1 percent chance that it ends up being Luke P., prepare for a full-blown riot. Luke has shown time and time again that he is more deserving of a prison sentence than a chance at redemption as the bachelor. He also denounced the franchise after taking backlash for his creepy/vile/uncomfortable/narcissistic/misogynist/enter-your-own-word-here actions (as opposed to owning up to them).
If the spoiler hasnāt clicked yet, here it is. Jed has won The Bachelorette. I would have said Jed has won Hannahās heart, but I think we can expect to see a statement from his camp after the back-half of the season finale airs on Tuesday and he gets dumped on television. Rumor has it that Hannah couldnāt take the big revelation of Jedās girlfriend-in-waiting, and The Bachelorette sent a film crew to catch the breakup. (Bonus points if they caught Haley breaking up with Jed as well.)
Hopefully this rumor is true. While it is completely plausible that Jed entered The Bachelorette for personal gain then fell in love with Hannah (his words, not mine), thereās no way she stays with him after finding out that he also had a girlfriend at home ā a girlfriend he was actively texting about the show, asking to wait for him and talking about all the things it would do for their careers. Yeah⦠bad look. Hannah sent that weirdo Scott home on night one for doing the same. Unfortunately for her, detective Demi didnāt stick around long enough to sniff out Jed as well.
The āFieldā in the odds does include Jed, but once Tuesdayās finale part 2 airs, he probably has less of a chance at being the next man up than Luke P. does.
When it comes to our next Bachelor, it seems as though Bachelor Nation is slightly in favor of Mike being chosen. Mike gets his slight edge over Tyler because all of the currently single female Bachelorette fans have flights booked to Jupiter to try to take Tyler off the market. Once he gets his heart broken, the odds should even out. (Iām still pulling for Mike, though.)
The Bachelorette two-part finale kicks off tonight at 8:00 p.m. EST on ABC and concludes on Tuesday night at 8:00 p.m. EST on ABC.
