205 Live recap for July 30, 2019: Husbands gone wild

Here’s the recap of all the high-flying action you may have missed from this week’s episode of 205 Live. Watch the Cruiserweights every Tuesday night at 8 PM ET on the WWE Network.

This week’s episode of 205 Live features a tag team match, a singles match, and another excellent main event: an Unsanctioned match featuring Mike Kanellis and general manager Drake Maverick.

Over the last two months, we’ve watched the tension build between Kanellis and Maverick. Kanellis has always blamed Maverick for not getting opportunities and takes no accountability. To make matters worse, his own wife humiliated him on RAW  by questioning him as a man.

This fueled Kanellis to provoke Maverick the next night on 205 Live. The brand’s general manager challenged Kanellis to an unsanctioned match where Kanellis will get a title shot should he win. For more on the last two weeks of this feud, we have you covered here and here.

As an aside, both men have won the 24/7 Championship. This week, Maria forced her husband to lay down for her so that she could pin him with her high heel. Since she’s pregnant, Maria will be the champion for the foreseeable future. Will there be two champions in the Kanellis household after SummerSlam?

Earlier on Tuesday, Kanellis posted a promo about how everything that happens tonight is on Maverick and that he is focused on hurting him. He continues to take no responsibility for the position he has found himself in for the last couple of years since joining WWE.
