48. Best college football teams of all-time: 2007 LSU

2007 was the year that played host to, perhaps, the craziest college football season in history. In a season full of gambles and underdog upsets, mixed in with some of the greatest talents the game has seen recently, the LSU Tigers took a hold of the chaos.

Much of this is thanks to the incredible amounts of talent on the field, but it also can’t be overlooked that, in a year full of wild occurrences (LSU won three games it, more likely than not, shouldn’t have), head coach Les Miles embraced the chaos of the season, leading his Tigers to the national championship.

Now, I would be remiss if I didn’t throw in that some of these “coaching miracles” came directly as a result of some stellar individual plays. LSU was a team chock full of five-star talent, even though at times it certainly didn’t seem like it, including lead-rusher Jacob Hester.

An impressive team playing in one of the craziest years of college football, the Tigers earn their spot on this list, just like they earned their national championship in a year that, to me, seems like yesterday.
