10. Best college football teams of all-time: 2009 Alabama

The team that started a dynasty.

Saban earned his first championship (of the many, many afterward and continuing to come) in the 2009 season. The season also stood alone in history as the only team to win 14 games in a single season. It was an absolutely earth-changing team for the Crimson Tide, propelling them into the modern era that they have now dominated.

Mark Ingram won the school’s first Heisman and is now a reliable running back in the NFL, starring with the Saints for years before his recent signing with the Ravens. This Alabama team also had 15 other future NFL Draft Picks on the roster.

After the following 2010 season, Alabama would set a school record with four first-round draftees in the NFL Draft. For a team in 2009 that was stacked with talented names like Rolando McClain, Terrence Cody and Julio Jones, their undefeated season was more than enough to add to that fact, earning them an easy spot near the top of this list.
