MLB DFS Pitching Plays

Michael Pineda – Pineda gets an equally soft match-up in the Miami Marlins. This is more of a GPP pivot, especially on FanDuel where the pricing is so close between him, and Wheeler. Pineda strikes out more righties, at 24.5%, but has a much higher ISO at .227, compared to .126 ISO against LHH. He also gives up more FB to RHH, at 45%, and 45% HC. He will see a bunch of righties, and normally I would say that is not the type of lineup we want to target with Pineda. However, these are RHH that hit 50% GB, and 39% HC, with a 136 ISO.

Pitch Mix – We will focus on Michael’s pitch mix against RHH. He uses the fastball 50% of the time, and slider 47%. The slider gets massive whiffs at just over 50%, it also got 55% GB in July, which was the second-highest all year.

The fastball has been his major issue this season, it doesn’t get big whiffs, or many GB, with an ISO over .200 most of the time. With that fastball on average sitting at 93 MPH, with around seven inches of vertical movement, you will not get positive results. As mentioned this is only a GPP pivot, and I would more than likely avoid him on FanDuel at that price.
