Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks: August 2, 2019

Tonight’s Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks slate features 12 games, with plenty of areas to exploit. With a handful of high-priced pitchers available, finding value will be imperative for success.
We’ll be aiming to highlight MLB DFS picks from the perspective of batted ball data, batter splits, and pricing discrepancies.

Daily Fantasy Baseball Picks: Standout Batted Ball Stats

Scooter Gennett – DK $3500, FD $3200

Scooter Gennett should be joining his new team tonight, and will gain the added benefit of playing in Coors Field. Not only will the conditions help, but he’s been hitting the ball incredibly well of late. In the last 15 days, his batted ball distance is up 14 feet, his hard hit percentage is up 5%, and his exit velocity is up 4 MPH, over his yearly averages. Gennett had been priced into the $4000 range earlier this past month, so this cheaper price, in Coors Field, is a prime “buy low” spot.

Aaron Judge – DK $3900, FD $4000

While Judge hasn’t put up impressive fantasy numbers of late, his batted ball stats would indicate that he’s actually hitting the ball slightly better than normal. Now while that statement doesn’t sound groundbreaking, when you couple that piece, with his price drop, he becomes a very interesting option. Judge was priced well over $5000 this past month, and now receives over a $1000 price drop. In the last 15 days his batted ball distance is up 9 feet, his hard hit percentage is up 8%, and his exit velocity has remained the same, relative to his yearly averages.

Batter Splits

J.D. Martinez – DK $4800, FD $4100

If you’re a fan of batter splits, take a look at J.D. Martinez tonight. Martinez will draw an advantageous matchup against the lefty, James Paxton. Martinez is much better against left handed pitching, with a .524 wOBA split (.162 better than when facing a righty) and a .442 ISO split (.254 better than when facing a righty).
