No. 2: USC Trojans

“Fight On,” is the Trojan fight song and is widely considered a top battle cry in college athletics. Composed in 1922 by student Milo Sweet, “Fight On,” has been a part of every USC athletic event since.

The Trojan Marching Band, aka, “The Spirit of Troy,” hasn’t missed a single Trojan football game – home or away – since 1987. That means trips to Columbus, Lincoln, South Bend, and Syracuse, in addition to the annual matchups with Oregon and Utah, plus countless others.. What other college band has that great of reach?

USC’s fight song is unique in the sense that it actually sounds like what you’d hear as an army approaches battle (in a Hollywood film). You could easily edit, “Fight On!,” into a scene in Troy or Lord of the Rings and plenty would believe it belonged. It’s not a fight song that even needs lyrics, although it has them.

“Fight On for ol’ SC
Our men Fight On to victory.
Our Alma Mater dear, looks up to you
Fight On and win for ol’ SC
Fight On to victory. Fight On!”

This Trojan anthem couldn’t quite take the top spot as the best college fight song, but USC is very familiar with the school who did land at No. 1.
