DraftKings PGA: 2019 Northern Trust Picks and Analysis

The Wyndham Championship was extremely entertaining! Partially because I had a $3,000 sweat on in the $3 Birdie contest on DraftKings. I had JT Poston and Webb Simpson alongside the guys who made my article.

For those of you not watching, JT Poston ball-striked the crap out of a final round 72 to grab his first PGA Tour victory (and first top-5). I am a Byeung Hun An fan, but I was not mad that he missed some putts down the stretch.

A Webb birdie on 18 sealed the deal, capping a $3,200 return on my $66 initial investment. Hopefully you all got in on my picks and made some guap as well. And if you did not, ride the hot hand with my 2019 Northern Trust picks.

The PGA Tour moves from Greensboro, North Carolina to Jersey City, New Jersey. Liberty National Golf Club plays host to the 2019 Northern Trust (and the first leg of the FedEx Cup). Liberty National Golf Club is not a stranger to PGA Tour events, as it hosted The Barclays in 2013 and 2009.

Adam Scott won the 2013 edition with an 11 under, holding off Graham DeLeat, Justin Rose, Tiger Woods, and Gary Woodland. Some guy named Heath Slocum held off Tiger and others in 2009.

Liberty National Golf Club is playing 7,354 yards and will play as a par-71. The Tom Kite designed course is a challenging tract. The past two winners have posted an 11-under and a 9-under. The course has also underwent minor renovations that should make the course even more challenging.

The fairways are on the easier side to hit, the greens are smaller than average, and the rough should not be overly penal. Of note, there are 5 par-4’s that range from 450-500 yards this week.

Bombers and ball-strikers stand out to me when I look at the course and the past leader-boards. We switch back to Bentgrass greens this week.

In the past, Liberty National Golf Club has mowed the greens tight, so favor golfers who prefer fast Bentgrass greens. What I will put a lot of emphases this week is approach, Par-4 scoring, and Bentgrass putting. My estimate is that the winner of this tournament posts an 13-under.
