205 Live will be represented with a Cruiserweight Championship match on SummerSlam. Champion Drew Gulak will take on fan favorite Oney Lorcan.

At “The Biggest Party of the Summer,” the Cruiserweights will be representing with a title match between Drew Gulak and Oney Lorcan. Back at Stomping GroundsGulak beat Tony Nese and Akira Tozawa in a triple-threat match. The match was once again relegated to the Kickoff Show. And once again, the Cruiserweights put on a fantastic match that deserved more respect.

After successfully defending his title at Extreme Rules against Tony Nese (in yet another Kickoff Show), he has only had one televised match. Gulak wrestled his former student, Isaiah “Swerve” Scott in a non-title match. It was a standout for 205 Live.

Lorcan has been splitting his time between the purple brand and the black and yellow brand. Over on NXT, he competes as one half of a tag team with Danny Burch. It was recently announced that the duo will be competing at wXw in Germany this October. Back on 205 LiveLorcan had an Anything Goes match with Ariya Daivari where he was victorious. After he few weeks off TV, he beat an enhancement talent in a squash match. When he’s not busy wrestling on two brands, he’s tweeting in all caps and generally being awesome on social media.

Last week, Drake Maverick faced Mike Kanellis in an Unsanctioned match. If Kanellis won, he would’ve gotten a title shot at SummerSlam. Maverick won, thus leaving Gulak without an opponent days before one of WWE‘s biggest events.

Enter Oney Lorcan:

The SummerSlam match was made official on this week’s 205 Live after Lorcan beat five other men in the brand’s first ever Six-Pack Challenge. Lorcan pinned Tony Nese to earn the No. 1 contender spot.

This should be a very good match, even though it’ll likely get another Kickoff spot on the card. It seems likely that Gulak will retain his Cruiserweight title.
