8. Trevor Lawrence – Clemson

Trevor Lawrence was a huge prospect in the Clemson football system that the program could not wait to put on the field, essentially ending the Kelly Bryant era for the school. Lawrence immediately flashed his potential, eventually leading the team to another national championship win.

Now, the sophomore will be searching for back-to-back championships in a much weaker ACC conference. Expecting the same type of production from a season ago, NFL scouts will be looking for similar arm talent, accuracy and pocket presence he showcased previously.

Why is there pressure if he had such a successful season ago? Well, everybody will be gunning to figure out how to beat him. When someone bursts on the college football scene, defensive coordinators immediately try to figure out how to slow down or even stop the offensive threat.

It will not be an easy task as Lawrence had one of the most impressive playoff performances fans have ever seen. There’s always pressure on a quarterback who dominated the league for one year. Comparing to the NFL, Patrick Mahomes will be subject to the same sort of pressure that Lawrence will see in 2019.

It is highly possible that Lawrence rolls through the ACC and takes Clemson to the playoffs once again, but the question revolves around the ability to repeat his postseason success.
