Looking for a streaming quarterback in Week 1 to make a quick buck in DFS or win in season-long fantasy football? There are a few good options.

Streaming is not only a fantasy baseball strategy. Many people use the strategy in fantasy football when looking for a defense or kicker to play that week. But what if you take it further and use it on the most important positon in football? The quarterback.

The quarterback position is deeper now than ever before. I did my tier rankings earlier in the week (here) and I’d be happy with anyone from one to 20 on my roster. When drafting, I like to wait as long as possible before drafting my quarterback. With most leagues using one quarterback, there isn’t much of a difference between No. 5 and 15 in points scored.

However, if you want even longer, you can play the matchups all season while having good talent at the other positions. This may not be an ideal way to make it to the playoffs but you can use those other skills players as trade bait.

More from Fantasy Football

This can also be used for fantasy football fans that play on a DFS site. While the majority will use a top name like Aaron Rodgers or Patrick Mahomes, you can be the complete contrarian and use Lamar Jackson or Josh Allen.

It’s all about the matchup play. With the NFL and head coaches relying on quarterbacks and the passing game over the running game, more quarterbacks have fantasy value and can provide owners with a great fantasy game.

If you are planning to stream for Week 1, here are my top three options.

Andy Dalton, @SEA

Even if A.J. Green is expected to miss this game, Dalton has a good matchup to start the season. He has Tyler Boyd, Tyler Eifert and Joe Mixon at his disposal.

Dalton hasn’t played against Seattle since 2015 and hasn’t been to CenturyLink Field since his rookie season in 2011. Based on the short schedule, teams play out-of-conference teams not as often as we get in other sports.

The Seahawks defense is not the same “Legion of Boom” we’re familiar with. Though, they were 17th in yards per game and 22nd in points per game. Sacks leader Frank Clark is in Kansas City and Quinton Jefferson went to the Rams.

Dalton can put up 300 yards and two touchdowns against this defense.

Jameis Winston, vs SF

My next two streaming picks are playing against each other. Winston has a solid group of weapons including Mike Evans, potential breakout star Chris Godwin and the tight end duo of OJ Howard and Cameron Brate.

The 49ers were fourth in points allowed, 20th in yards per game and 20th in sacks. This game will likely be a shootout and one of the surprising games of the week.

Winston has been turnover prone, throwing at least two interceptions in his first four games of last season, a total of 10 in that span. But he tightened up after week 4 and threw a total of four in his final seven games.

Jimmy Garoppolo, @TB

On the other side of the field, Garoppolo will look to start his third season in San Francisco on the right foot. He played in the first three games of last year before going down with a torn ACL.

The front office did a good job giving Garoppolo enough weapons to succeed this season. Along with Dante Pettis and Marquise Goodwin, they brought in veteran Jordan Matthews and drafted Deebo Samuel and Jalen Hurd.

The team also has George Kittle at tight end and the pass-catching running back trio in Tevin Coleman, Matt Brieda and Jerick McKinnon.

The Bucs defense allowed 383.4 yards and 29 points per game, sixth and second in the league respectively.

I also like Nick Foles and Joe Flacco as streamers but these three are my top picks. Streaming quarterbacks is not a strategy I’d recommend every week in a season-long league but can be valuable in DFS.
