1992: WWF Championship — Ultimate Warrior vs. Randy Savage

Keeping with the theme of the Ultimate Warrior, it was noted previously that he would go on to win the WWF Championship. In 1992, he found himself in a match with the “Macho Man” Randy Savage at Wembley Stadium in London. Savage had regained the championship earlier in the year, and the Warrior was hoping to reclaim the title he once held.

A lot was going on with this match, because lurking in the shadows were Mr. Perfect and Ric Flair. There was some confusion on the idea that either Savage or Warrior may have sold out and joined up with Flair and Perfect. The two shook hands prior to the match, but it was far from a “friendly” shake.

As the two battled back and forth, Flair and Perfect made their appearance. Savage saw the two coming as he was standing on the top rope. He jumped off in the direction of Flair, but was met with a steel chair for his efforts. Savage came down hard on his leg, and was unable to get back in the ring. The distraction caused him to be counted out, awarding the match to the Warrior. But as the rules state, a title can only change hands on a pinfall or submission, so Savage would remain champion due to the decision.

As the ring announcer informed the crowd of the countout decision, the Warrior went and retrieved the championship. He helped Savage to his feet and draped the title over his shoulder. Because Savage was still favoring his knee, thanks to Flair, the Warrior helped him to the back. It helped cap off a solid SummerSlam pay per view, which also saw the British Bulldog defeat Bret Hart for the Intercontinental Championship in the main event.
