FanDuel MLB DFS Breakdown: GPP Pitchers

Aaron Sanchez (8.2k) @ Baltimore

Sanchez is my favorite GPP option. He looked absolutely terrific for the Astros in his debut, throwing six innings of no-hit ball against the Mariners while walking only two. He has an elite matchup here against the Orioles and he’s still priced pretty affordably.

I think the Astros have fixed him and he’ll probably be an entirely different pitcher the rest of the season with some newfound confidence as well as an elite offense behind him.

Chris Paddack (8.4k) vs. Colorado

Paddack’s last start was bad, giving up 6 runs to the Dodgers over four innings, but he had been pitching extremely well before that over the course of the last month. Today he gets a nice matchup against a slumping Rockies team at home and we get a nice discount on Paddack here who was priced up around 9k for awhile.

The Rockies are a very mediocre offense outside of Coors and have a 22% K rate. Paddack is a really good young pitcher with a 26% K rate of his own. At -210 he’s the second-largest favorite on the slate (right behind Sanchez at -220).

Tanner Roark (7.3k) vs. Chicago White Sox

Roark looked good in his Oakland debut last week, striking out 6 Cardinals over 5 innings and allowing only one run. Today he gets an elite matchup for strikeouts against the White Sox and their 25.5% K rate.

He’s been better this year than most people realize and still striking out a batter per inning despite his inability to pitch deep into games. At this price, I’m interested in him if he allows me to fit the bats that I really want. 30-40 FanDuel points are definitely well within the range of outcomes here and that would kind of performance would make him an excellent value.
