How can you watch the series finale of Legion online?

It’s the end of the end on Legion, but what does that mean? After setting Syd up as the major player in the end game, she was largely absent rom the penultimate episode of Legion. It was focused much more on David: his travels through time and the connection to his parents. When Syd did appear the main character she interacted with was David’s mother. She also brought a well-meaning injection of morality, though whether or not it ends well remains to be seen. She wouldn’t allow Kerry to kill the baby version of David, even to prevent the adult David from doing so much harm because the baby was innocent. Kerry was confused, and she might have a point: They went back in time to stop David, but Syd wasn’t willing to do the one thing that would stop him in the future: not allow him to live to become his adult self. On one hand, it could be a commendable moral stand to not kill a baby, on the other that unwillingness could doom everyone to death.

David thought he could save himself in the future by helping his father actually defeat Farouk in the first place. The problem with this (or one of the problems) is that David doesn’t seem to know what “saving himself” means. Would not having the Shadow King in his mind his entire life change things? Probably, but it wouldn’t fix everything, and David has not proven himself inclined to, or really capable of making rational decisions. Would Farouk’s disappearance change that?

The promo for the episode focuses on the impending conflict and it’s end-of-the-world consequences. Farouk may have helped Syd and the others find David, but that doesn’t mean he agreed with her plans to at least offer David a chance to save himself. In episode 7 he prepared to fight David by seemingly duplicating himself a few times to counter David and Charles teaming up. That doesn’t really sound like someone open to negotiation (of some sort.) Syd may need to make a choice between her own conviction that David needs to have the chance to change/save himself, and her alliance with Farouk.

Both this promo and episode 7 also contained a nice call-back to the comics, with David’s many personalities shut in rooms to try and control them. But now they’re out.

The series finale of Legion airs Monday night at 10 p.m.
