Queen of the Ring

I’ve always been a fan of tournaments and the King of the Ring was one of my absolute favorite pay-per-views. The WWE never had a Queen of the Ring tournament and at Evolution 2 it would be a perfect time. There’s a lot of ladies running around calling themselves “Queen.” You’ve got the “Queen of Harts” Natalya; the “Queen of Spades” Shayna Bazsler; and the “Queen” herself Charlotte Flair. Throw in “The Goddess” Alexa Bliss, “The Princess of Staten Island” Carmella, and the “Empress of Tomorrow” Asuka among others and you’ve got quite a royal court ready to battle it out.

If the success of the Mae Young Classic is any indication of how well these women perform in tournaments then the Queen of the Ring would be in good hands. Granted, the winner doesn’t necessarily need to be awarded a crown and scepter to defend every year but it might be an added bonus should someone like Flair win. She already has the robes, give her a crown and the moniker of being the true “Queen of the Ring” and she could draw even more heat than she already does.

This would also be an opportunity to have talent cross paths who normally wouldn’t. Heel vs. heel, face vs. face, Superstars from NXT and NXT UK could all be slotted into unique matches. And if they really wanted to build up the event they could hold qualifying matches on episodes of SmackDown Live, Raw, NXT and NKT UK. It would be a good way to bring added interest to Evolution 2.
