Early DraftKings MLB picks August 14: I dream of Gio
By Mike Marteny
DraftKings MLB Stack Options:
New York Yankees vs. Dylan Bundy/God-awful bullpen:
As far as Orioles pitching goes, Bundy has been great against the Yankees compared to the rest of his teammates. Even Gleyber hasn’t homered off of him in six at bats! Aaron Judge does have three dingers though. Gary Sanchez and Gregorius have the others. Hell, play Gleyber too. Even if he doesn’t hit one off of Bundy, he’ll do it against the bullpen. Mike Tauchman and Urshela are worth a look too depending on your budget.
Baltimore Orioles vs. J.A. Happ:
Who needs Coors when you have the Yankees playing the Orioles and the Orioles playing Happ(less)? Happ has four starts against Baltimore this year and has allowed 15 runs in 17.1 innings with a staggering seven homers. This could wind up being a better (and cheaper) stack than the Yankees! Renato Nunez is 8-16 with four homers and eight RBI, so lock him in. Trey Mancini has three of those homers. Chris Davis has two, but none this year and a .138 average. Hanser Alberto has the other. Skip Davis and go after Happ with some more right handed power like Santander and Pedro Severino.
Cleveland Indians vs. Brian Johnson:
Johnson pitched better his last time out, but I still don’t trust a lefty in Cleveland against this lineup. Johnson manages to dodge Luplow and Yasiel Puig, but Franimal is a must play at his price. Put him with Jose Ramirez, Lindor, Carlos Santana, and Kipnis for a rather dangerous stack.
Houston Astros vs. Ross Detwiler:
Amazingly, Josh Reddick has both of the current Astros homers against Detwiler. It wont be by the end of this game. George Springer, Jose Altuve, and Carlos Correa all clobber lefties. Yuli Gurriel and even Yordan Alvarez aren’t far behind. Alvarez isn’t all that great against lefties yet, but Detwiler wont be in the game that long. Then the Astros get to feast on that bullpen.
