2. Fiorentina will fight for a top four spot

Famed side Fiorentina has gotten a new lease on life after avoiding relegation last season on the final day of the season. That was followed up by the team’s sale over the summer to Italian-American telecommunications mogul Rocco Commisso.

Under their new ownership, Commisso made it clear that the club in now way intended to sell star player Federico Chiesa. The promising 21-year-old winger scored six goals in Serie A last season and is poised to do even better this campaign. He will be joined in attack by newcomer Kevin-Prince Boateng.

Commisso’s goal is to invest in the club in order to make them competitive. The club’s hopes to match the fans’ expectations by competing for a spot in Europe, even a potential top four finish that would get them into the Champions League. The team will be in good hands under coach Vincenzo Montella.

“We almost got relegated on the last game last year, so the initial target is we’ve got to do better than last year,” Commisso said officially after buying the team. “Beyond that… I like to underpromise and overdeliver, as opposed to the other way around.”
