Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling are unstoppable (Video)
Manchester City don’t always start Kevin De Bruyne, but whenever he’s in the lineup, he always reminds Premier League fans that he’s one of the world’s finest passers.
After scoring twice against West Ham in an absolute master-class of a performance from the Manchester City attack, Raheem Sterling, who just might be the best player in the entire Premier League, struck first in a big matchup against Tottenham Hotspur.
Sterling’s third goal of the season came courtesy of a mind-blowing assist from midfielder Kevin De Bruyne. Although De Bruyne’s isn’t a regular starter for City, he is a world-class player and perhaps the best passer in all of football. This first-time, almost-no-look cross to the far post was a reminder why.
And in case fans also forgot, Sterling is the most intelligent runner off the ball in football, making a perfectly timed run to the back post. The headed finish was flawless, too, leaving Tottenham keeper Hugo Lloris with no choice but to pick the ball out of his net.
What an absolutely beautiful cross from a player with pinpoint accuracy and perfect technique.
Last season, De Bruyne started just 11 games for Pep Guardiola and recorded two assists, one season after being among the top players in the Premier League. Based on this assist, the 28-year-old Belgian remains absolute class and could rack up the assists if Guardiola has a change of heart with playing him.
As for Sterling, he was the star man on a team filled with stars, scoring 17 times for City in 2018-19. It wouldn’t be a surprise for him to eclipse that total and join Sergio Aguero as a 20-goal scorer for City, especially since he already has three to his name.
Tottenham could do nothing to stop this goal, but with their attacking firepower with a healthy Harry Kane and new center midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, the Spurs have the quality to come back against a team they shocked in the Champions League last campaign.
