Who is Jungle Boy: An All Elite Wrestling primer
By J.D. Oliva
One of All Elite Wrestling’s hot, young prospects has stardom in his blood. Who is Jungle Boy?
Boy. Myth. Legend.
Jungle Boy, a/k/a Jack Perry, is the son of the late Beverly Hills 90210 and Riverdale star, Luke Perry. Young, wild-haired and athletic, Jungle Boy has more than a little of his father’s natural charisma. The 21-year-old has already become one of All Elite Wrestling’s breakout performers leading into the premiere of AEW on TNT, October 2.
Jungle Boy eschewed the family business and moved into training for a career in the squared circle as a child in Southern California. After graduating high school, Perry became a fixture in the California independent scene before gaining the attention of fellow AEW wrestler Joey Janela and Game Changer Wrestling. Jungle Boy’s match with Tony Deppen at GCW’s LA Confidential became his breakout performance. He became a mainstay at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla, long considered Southern California’s premier independent group. Soon after, he was recruited to join the fledgling AEW by Cody Rhodes.
Jungle Boy’s debuted for the company in the Casino Battle Royale at Double or Nothing but made a second appearance on the show during a confrontation between MJF, Hangman Adam Page and Bret Hart. Jungle Boy’s presence in that moment, which coincided with the debut of the AEW World Championship belt, was a statement from the company: Keep an eye on this kid. He’s the future.
Recently, Jungle Boy has forged an alliance with Luchasaurus as the Boy and his Dinosaur tag team. Their appearances on Being the Elite and their tag team debut at Fyter Fest have cemented the duo as a staple in the already loaded AEW tag team division. When AEW on TNT premieres in October, the tournament to decide the company’s first World Tag Team Champions is expected to a featured storyline. How will A Boy and his Dinosaur fair when tournament play starts?
With his dreams of pro wrestling stardom are on the horizon, the loss of his father has made it a bittersweet year for Jack Perry.
All Elite Wrestling’s AEW on TNT will premiere October 2.
