25. SunTrust Park — Atlanta Braves

SunTrust Park is the newest gem in the MLB.

It’s built to modern standards, and the gleaming new park is certainly more fan-friendly than the park the Atlanta Braves left, Turner Field. It has all of the amenities a baseball fan could want in an MLB stadium. So why is SunTrust Park sitting in the bottom half of this list?

One word: Location.

While Turner Field had certainly passed its useful life as a baseball facility, the stadium sat just on the southern edge of downtown Atlanta, making it an easy park to reach either by car or by public transportation. Never mind that Turner Field was in a somewhat sketchy area, it was an easy park to get to.

Now, Braves fans across the super-sprawling Atlanta metro area have to travel to an office park in Cobb County to watch and up-and-coming Braves team tear up the league. Yep, you read that correctly — this gem of an MLB ballpark sits in a glorified office park. How’s that for scenery? Other MLB parks have majestic views of their downtowns or sit on the water. SunTrust Park has majestic views of glass-and-steel office towers, in an office park, in Cobb County.

Now, do you see why SunTrust Park is ranked where it is?

Sure, it has the “Atlanta Boardwalk” adjacent to it, but the location still sucks. So while SunTrust Park gets an A+ plus for its amenities, it gets an F for its location, and why No. 25 is a perfect fit for this high-tech, intimate MLB park. Sometimes, a location can ruin an absolute treasure of a ballpark.
