Highlighting every Power 5 team’s top Heiman Trophy candidate and assessing their chances of winning the most prestigious individual honor in college football.

Heisman Trophy candidates can come from anywhere. It’s part of the beauty of college football. For as much as fans and analysts alike think they know, there is always the element of unknowable commodities rising up and providing surprises lingering. It may be the most prestigious award in college football but predicting who will win it is an inexact science.

In 2016, there were plenty of people excited about Lamar Jackson but few foresaw the dynamic quarterback putting up the eye-popping numbers that allowed him to capture the Heisman. Even just last year, Kyler Murray came into the year with hype but also as a player with a little track record to go off of before he dominated for Oklahoma and captured the award.

At the start of a new college football season, every player has a chance to win the Heisman Trophy. All they have to do is go out and submit the most impressive individual performance of any player in the country — simple as that. Having an abundance of team success doesn’t hurt either but it’s all about the individual player at the end of the day.

Because of that, we’re going to find the right candidates to win the Heisman in the 2019 college football season. To do so, we’re going to look at every Power 5 team in the country (and add Notre Dame to the mix, too) and name their best candidate to potentially hoist the hallowed trophy in New York come December.

As we go through all 64 teams in the Power 5 conferences, plus Notre Dame, we’ll go alphabetically by conference and then through each grouping naming each squad’s top Heisman Trophy candidate. The Fighting Irish will be included in the ACC given their ties to the conference.

With the particulars out of the way, we start with the aforementioned ACC.
