Jadon Sancho and Kai Havertz will be the two most prized prospects in the Bundesliga during the 2020 summer transfer window, and there are already indications that Bayern Munich are heavy favorites to land Bayer Leverkusen’s phenom.

Bayer Leverkusen were able to hold off all transfer overtures this summer, but Rudi Voller and Co. understand that they will have to cash in on Kai Havertz. He is one of the best prospects to come out of Germany in recent memory, having scored an astounding 17 goals as a 19-year-old attacking midfielder during the previous Bundesliga campaign.

Literally every major club in Europe is expected to clamor for Havertz’s services. Per Sport1, childhood dream club Barcelona, Manchester United, Liverpool, Real Madrid, and even Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City are among the elite clubs with interest.

Despite all of this, Bayern remain the clear favorites to land Havertz, to the point where it’d be an upset if they didn’t sign Germany’s top prospect in 2020. With eyes on RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner and Manchester City’s Leroy Sane, Bayern could snag a trio of elite young attackers in 2020.

Tz.de’s Manuel Bonke reports that as of right now, Bayern are ahead of the rest of the pack by a wide margin, reenforcing the idea that the Havertz sweepstakes is Bayern’s to lose.

It’s not uncommon for Bayern to sign the best prospects in Germany, and they usually do so for free, which could easily be the case with Werner. Leverkusen have a special relationship with Havertz, which means the player will choose exactly where he goes. However, Leverkusen have set things up so that Havertz will not leave for free and will instead net the team at least 100 million euros on the market

Given the profile of the teams interested and the consistency of Havertz’s goal-scoring, it’s safe to say the 20-year-old would be worth that kind of money. Bayern will be given no discounts from Leverkusen or friendly treatment, but if Havertz prefers to stay in Germany and play for the country’s most dominant club, then that’s most likely what will happen due to the dynamics at play between Havertz and the club.

Next. What will Coutinho bring to Bayern?. dark

Havertz has been a special player for Leverkusen and played a critical role in getting the organization back to the Champions League in 2019-2020. His technical ability, intelligence, and eye for goal have already made him one of Europe’s best attacking midfielders, and he’d be a much-needed goal-scoring outlet for Bayern. He’d also potentially come cheaper than signing Philippe Coutinho permanently from the loan deal, and he’s both significantly younger and arguably better than the former Barcelona man.

That makes it likely Bayern will fork over the money for Havertz, and, again, the fit seems too perfect for both clubs. Barring an egregious offer or promise of playing time from a club like Liverpool or Barcelona, with both looking like darkhorses to land Havertz for a variety of reasons, Bayern are the team to beat. There’s plenty of time for things to schange between now and the summer of 2020, but there’s an awful lot of smoke linking Havertz to Bavaria already.
