NFL DFS: Final Thoughts

As with other sports, in order to become a good NFL DFS player, you have to be willing to zig when others zag. That could mean rostering players at low ownership or just using a unique pairing of teammates from a popular offense. There is no right or wrong way to build lineups for GPPs, but I do think the one thing you have to always consider is stacking and correlation. Correlated lineups are going to outscore lineups that aren’t correlated more often than not.

Every lineup should tell a story. I get people who send me baseball, football, or basketball lineups on Twitter all the time and ask me what I think. Members of the WiseTake nation do the same thing in our slack channel over there. If I am looking at your lineup, I should be able to tell what you think the outcome of the games from which you selected players will be. At the end of the day, we are trying to predict outcomes in DFS, and therefore use the players that we think will be in the best position to score fantasy points if the game script ends up as we predicted.

You’re going to be wrong a lot more often than you think as NFL DFS is full of variance just like other sports. But if you are building lineups that are correlated and using some of the tried and true methods of stacking you’re going to at least have lineups that have the potential to win. Fortune favors the bold, so don’t be afraid to use players that you feel good about that week even if the consensus across the industry is that there are better plays at their position.

Do your homework, find those players and games that you love, check the ownership projections (read my weekly article) and then build some winning lineups! I know you’re probably as excited as I am for the NFL season to start!

Next. You drafted Andrew Luck in your league. Now what?. dark
