4. Receiver unit ready to make names for themselves

It’s a receiver unit that to an outsider looking in, seems as though it might struggle being that it lost three of their top four receivers from last season. But the truth of the matter is that this year’s receiver unit is absolutely loaded.

The second-leading receiver, K.J. Hill will be back for his senior season to lead the group. But seniors Austin Mack and Binjimen Victor also return to the Buckeyes with some leadership as well. The two touchdown hero of the Michigan game, Chris Olave will return for a now highly anticipated sophomore season. And five-star receiver Garrett Wilson has looked fantastic and could find his way onto the field for the Buckeyes this season.

Mack and Victor are two relatively unknown names to many fans outside of Buckeye fans but they both have the chance to showcase their abilities in the national spotlight in 2019.

Mack, a former four-star recruit and the ninth-best receiver in the class of 2016, has shown some flashes but hasn’t exploded onto the scene like many expected him to. He had a case of the dropsies for periods last season and an injury ended up ending his season. That being said, with the talent that is leaving the unit, Mack should have the chance to step up into a prominent role.

Victor, another former four-star recruit in the class of 2016, is a rare combination of size and speed and while he has also shown flashes in his Buckeye career he has never been able to put it all together. While Mack is very talented, I think that Victor is the guy that has the better chance to be a breakout star for the Buckeyes in 2019.

The Buckeyes have five studs in the receiver group this season and it should make it easier for Justin Fields to shine in his first season as a starter.
