South Carolina hasn’t had a double-digit win season since 2013, but that hasn’t stopped Gamecock fans from filling Williams-Brice Stadium over the years. Before and after the game, though, you can find Gamecock fans in typical tailgating fashion – tents with food, pickup trucks stocked with coolers and other goodies, and abandoned cabooses on an old train track nearby the stadium; they call them, “Cockabooses.”
The Gamecocks are renowned for their tailgating, probably because their on-field product is inferior in the SEC with Alabama, Georgia and LSU seemingly dominating every year. They’ll have opportunities to showcase their talents in front of their home crowd against some of the conference’s best, too.
They’ll host Charleston Southern, Appalachian State and Clemson in their non-conference slate at Williams-Brice Stadium, while SEC foes Alabama, Kentucky, Florida and Vanderbilt will also flock to Columbia for meetings on the gridiron.
