DraftKings MLB picks August 28: Best to roll with Cole

The DraftKings MLB slates for today are a little choppy once again. Weird start times and no matinees on the east coast contribute to that. The early DraftKings MLB slate is the two earlier games in Milwaukee and Seattle. The Phillies are starting an hour earlier than the rest of the east coast, so you have to play a DraftKings MLB showdown to get in on that action.

The Diamondbacks and Giants are off today, so the remaining 11 games make up the main DraftKings MLB tournaments tonight. The pitching isn’t as strong at the top but is arguably better in the middle. Coors is still on here, but at least the Rockies aren’t throwing a below average AAA arm out there again.

Rain: New York(high), Miami(moderate), Houston(slight)

Wind: 14 mph out to left in Chicago, 14 mph out to right in Detroit, 14 mph in from left in Toronto, 18 mph out to left in Milwaukee (look out!)

Hot/Humid: Washington(humid), New York(rain is humid), Miami(both), Houston(both), Kansas City(humid), Denver(hot), San Diego(humid), Los Angeles(humid)

The wind out In Milwaukee could really help all of the right handed power in the St. Louis lineup. The roof should be closed in Miami and Houston, but should be open in Toronto and Milwaukee, so they will get the wind there.

The Cubs-Mets series is an important one, but I doubt this game gets played. Rain continues until around midnight. My feeling is they call this and play two on Thursday, so I’m leaving this game out of here entirely. That does take Thor out of the pitching pool. We wouldn’t use Hendricks on the road anyway.

Verlander got tossed, so he didn’t hit value for his price. Houser was forced to leave early, but still put up solid numbers. It was Walker Buehler that turned in the best performance and Adam Plutko who turned in the best value followed by Mike Montgomery. A successful night slate helped keep my head above water for the night.

These tips are based mostly on past performance. This is a nice tool for building a lineup, but should not be the only pieces of information you use. We have plenty of writers on here who give you relevant information no matter which site you play on, and we all attack the slate from different angles.
