DraftKings MLB daily notes:
Brett Anderson is a crafty pitcher that can keep the ball in the yard. His 4.50 career ERA at Yankee Stadium suggests that he can hold his own here, but the Yankees have some mashers from the right side. Aaron Judge, D.J. LeMahieu, and Gary Sanchez will make cameos throughout my lineups.
Surprisingly, Josh Phegley is the only A that has homered against CC so far. I much prefer Matt Chapman (who is 2-2, for what it’s worth) and Marcus Semien if you want to take a shot here though. A red hot Jurickson Profar is a solid play at the price as well.
Bryce Harper has homered twice off of Zack Wheeler, but is hitting just .216 in 37 at bats with 14 strikeouts. Kingery and Cesar Hernandez have the other homers and are probably better plays if you want to take a run at Wheeler.
This is a rather dangerous spot for Wade Miley. His ERA is a shade under 4 on the road. That still isn’t bad, but considering his strikeouts are far below everyone else priced at this level, it’s best to leave him be. It could also be a good idea to chase him with Vlad, Bo Bichette, and Randal Grichuk. Justin Smoak has homered off of him twice in 16 at bats as well.
It’s a hard pass on Trent Thornton against the Astros. He has been solid at home, but I still think Yordan Alvarez, George Springer, and Jose Altuve will get to him. Maybe Gurriel and Michael Brantley too. I wouldn’t go too heavily in any one lineup, but Thornton is going to give up a few runs.
I do like the upside on Jose De Leon, but we aren’t going to see it against Cleveland or in a split start with Austin Pruitt. In fact, I’m going to throw some Cleveland out there. Lindor is a great pivot off of Story. Kipnis, Yu Chang, and Franimal are all good mid range plays.
Kyle Gibson has a 7.84 ERA in two starts against Detroit this year, so yes, let’s pay $9,500 for him. I guarantee you nearly 10% of people will without looking just because it’s the Tigers. I’m going to use some Tiger bats as value. Dawel Lugo and Miggy have both homered off of Gibson. John Hicks, Victor Reyes, and Harold Castro are all hitting better than .300 against Gibby. Mix and match Detroit value here.
Trevor Bauer has been tuned up with a 9.15 ERA in four road starts as a Red. The Cardinals are finally starting to hit, and could actually chase Bauer before the rain hits. Matt Carpenter, Paul DeJong, Marcell Ozuna, and Goldschmidt are all strong plays.
